New NAATI Recertification Catalogue & myNAATI System Updates

NAATI Launches New Recertification Catalogue & myNAATI System Updates (June 2026)

On 2 June 2026, NAATI rolled out a significantly improved recertification catalogue and a refreshed myNAATI system — bringing better usability, clearer PD guidance, and a smoother recertification experience for certified translators and interpreters across Australia.

If you're a NAATI-certified practitioner or planning to sit the CCL test for your Australian PR points, here's everything you need to know about the latest updates — and what hasn't changed.

What's New: Recertification Catalogue & myNAATI

The recertification catalogue has been redesigned to make it easier for practitioners to find and claim professional development (PD) activities. Key improvements include:

  • Clearer PD categories with updated examples of eligible activities
  • Better guidance on how many points each activity is worth
  • Simplified navigation so you can quickly log your work practice and PD hours
  • Tighter integration with myNAATI — the online logbook now flows more naturally into the application submission process

The myNAATI portal itself received a backend overhaul to improve performance and reliability. The update also paves the way for upcoming features like digital ID cards and digital stamps, which will give practitioners more flexible (and secure) options for verifying their credentials.

NAATI sent a detailed email to all practitioners on 11 May previewing these changes. If you missed it, make sure your email address is up to date in your myNAATI account — that's where all future announcements will land.

Tip: Log in to myNAATI and check your contact details today so you don't miss important updates.

NAATI June 2026 Newsletter: Language Access & Practitioner Stories

Alongside the system updates, NAATI released its June 2026 newsletter, covering:

  • A new podcast episode on language access and justice — exploring the critical role interpreters play in ensuring equitable outcomes in healthcare, legal, and community settings
  • A practitioner spotlight — this month featuring a NAATI-certified interpreter sharing their journey, insights, and what professional certification means on the ground
  • The latest industry news and upcoming events for the translating and interpreting sector

It's a great reminder that NAATI isn't just about tests and credentials — it's about building a profession that supports a connected, multilingual Australia.

CCL Test in 2026: What's Staying the Same

One thing that hasn't changed is the NAATI CCL (Credentialed Community Language) test format. If you're preparing for the CCL exam in 2026, here's what you can expect:

Test format:

  • 20–30 minute online test delivered via remote proctoring
  • Two recorded dialogues, each approximately 300 words (~50% English, ~50% your chosen language)
  • Segments of ~35 words — you listen and interpret each segment after a chime
  • You must start interpreting within 5 seconds of the chime

Scoring:

  • 90 marks total (45 per dialogue)
  • Pass at 63+ overall, with a minimum of 29 marks in each dialogue
  • You cannot compensate for a weak dialogue by doing well in the other — both must meet the 29-mark threshold

What the CCL test gives you:

  • 5 additional PR points for skilled migration applicants
  • A Credentialed Community Language credential (this is not an interpreter certification — it's a migration points pathway)

Availability:

  • Offered in 54 languages
  • Monthly test slots for high-demand languages
  • Costs $165 (incl. GST)
  • Results issued within 4–6 weeks

Why the CCL Test Still Matters in 2026

For skilled migration applicants aiming for Australian permanent residency, every point counts. The 5 PR points from the NAATI CCL test can be the difference between an invitation to apply and missing the cutoff — especially in competitive occupation lists.

The good news? The test format is stable, predictable, and well-documented. No surprise changes in 2026. That means the preparation strategy that worked last year still works now: practice with realistic mock tests, build your dialogue endurance, and get feedback on your accuracy and delivery.
